Hike in the City

Saturday mornings are when we try to go out and do fun family outings.  This morning we found a park in the city that looks like you're camping.  It was beautiful and crazy that the city was just minutes away.  The kids had a blast marching around with sticks and taking turns/fighting over who was the "leader".

Then we finished our hike at a park and had a picnic.  It seems like we've become quite the picnic experts.  One of our favorite and easiest picnic meals is pita and hummus.  You make up the hummus beforehand and put it in a tupperware.  Then in a separate tupperware have pitas that have been toasted and cut into triangles.  The kids love it.  Then we pack veggies that can either be eaten alone or also dipped in the hummus.  A few treats for dessert and boom, we're on our way.  We even were lucky enough to meet up with some friends at the park for the picnic part.  We'll definitely be doing this hike again--maybe just with some more powerful bug spray the next time.
