The Wiggle Revolution

So Chloe is watching the Wiggles and it was a bit of a surprise that she wanted to watch them because she keeps thinking she's too old for "kid" shows. Anyway, I didn't realize how much I had missed them (because we know EVERY single song they sing and ok so even though we hated them at first these silly guys really do grow on you) so I start singing along with Greg and Murray, and of course Anthony and Jeff and I'm pointing my fingers and doing the twist just like they're asking me to do. I've got this like show face on and I'm doing this number for Chloe and she just blank stares me and then goes, "Mommy can you please go out of here?" to which my shocked face replies, "Um, what?!" and she goes, "Well, I did say please you know?" So I have a very polite anti-Mommy dancing to the Wiggles daughter. Maybe I'll just wait until the kids go to bed tonight and me and my hubby can watch the Big Red Car movie together. I mean watch out when those Irish dancer girls start dancing to Di Dicki Do Dum. We all turn into River Dancers. Maybe I can sneak a video of Greg to add to this post. he he he.

Garden Update

Just thought I'd show the successes we've had in our garden. With things cooling off, people say it is just a matter of days before gardens are done. So at night we have to put a blanket on the zuchinis so they don't die. I guess technically I should be cozying up everything but that just is too much to remember to do.

Here are the zuchini:

Everybody has a garden here. It is funny because I'm from California where it seems like it would a dream come true place to grow veggies but pretty much nobody has a garden and here in crazy weather land, everybody has a garden. My friend told me that since we were late starting, if we wanted our zuchini to actually make a vegetable, we'd have to cut off some of the other blossoms so all the power of the plant could focus on just two of the vines. It sounded like a coo-koo theory to me but I listened and it worked. I guess zuchini are pretty fool proof plants.

The tomatoes:

Out of three plants, these are all of them. It is unlikely they'll get the sun and warmth sufficient to get much bigger and possibly to turn red at all. Still, it was fun and Chloe has loved watching everything grow.

The alleged broccoli that looks more like califlower if you ask me:

The leaves have been attacked by some sort of bug or worm. Luckily I never saw a worm if there was one.

And Chloe's pumpkin? Well, looks like it is a dud. We just planted it too late.

She was excited about the vine growing and curling because it was like Cinderella's carriage. We'll have to break down and buy her a mini pumpkin from the store which is fine. Last year she named her mini pumpkin Pepa, we'll see what it is this year.

The butternut squash is only now starting to form some blossoms so we started that one too late too.

I love the whole world

Since we live far away, one of our actual needs while living here has been to have high speed internet so we can do video chat and stuff with family. It has been quite a luxury--I don't know how we'll ever go back to dial-up. Who am I kidding, we can't go back to dial up after this! Anyway, shortly after having Tatiana, I decided that having cable t.v. would also be a necessity. I mean if it is -40 outside and all I was doing is milk this and milk that and poor Chloe needed something to do. Anyway, it has been so fun to watch shows that we had only ever heard about before. Yes, it is the first time in our 7 yr. marriage that we've had real t.v. I love t.v. Maybe I should be embarrassed to admit that but I do. I love it. Having said that. Sometimes I cry at the most random things and that is even when I'm NOT pregnant and have no other hormonal excuse. So they have this new commercial for the discovery channel and I just LOVE IT!!! Check it out.

It makes me cry. Go figure. Something about everybody all coming together to sing this song. In a world full of so many scary, sad and bad things, this is a great reminder of how awesome this world is. Go ahead, re-play it and sing along.

And just for fun, here are some of my favorite shows. In no particular order and no I don't watch t.v. all the time. But I do look forward to the kids going to bed so I can watch. There are few things that a little t.v. veg time with a treat can't fix. The new Buffalo Wing/Blue Cheese Doritos dipped in sour cream are my #1 right now.

Relocation, Relocation, World's Most Extreme Homes, Property Virgins, Paula's Home Cooking, Tyler's Ultimate, Iron Chef America, Heroes, So You Think You Can Dance (even the Canada one is good), Holmes on Homes (a Canada show), ANTM, Ugly Betty, Bones, Jon & Kate + 8, Simply Ming, America's Test Kitchen, House Hunters International and of course the Hills ok and maybe Keeping Up with the Kardashians on occasion. :-)

What do you love to watch on t.v.?

Leaves are falling all around...

It is soooo pretty here right now. I wish it would last. The mornings and evenings are pretty cold but then the afternoon is gorgeous and you have to take off all your clothes--ok maybe not ALL your clothes but you know what I mean. I remember in college, going to school in the morning and it would be soooo cold then by lunch time you'd have to take your layers off. It was such a pain to carry all the extra clothes around. That is what I'm dealing with again except instead of just carrying MY stuff around, I have the girls' clothes also. Anyway, my parents were just here visiting and my mom took some pictures of the city and it occurred to me that I've never done that b/c I'm always thinking of taking pictures of the girls and focusing on getting two pairs of eyes to look at me at the same time. I always love the fall because in California, where I grew up, fall isn't so dramatic. Anyway, enjoy.

City Line

This is a gorgeous park we've recently discovered.

This part of the park reminds us of the Provo River when it gets all fallish and gorgeous. The only thing is that this river is enormous and nobody goes into it either because it is freezing or dirty--or maybe both.

I swear the leaves changed in a matter of one week and now they are all falling and it is sure to be over just as fast. I wish I could freeze this time of year because it is absolutely beautiful.

We continue to be astounded at the difference being above ground makes and having some natural light. Last year, in the basement apt., it was like we didn't even know this season was happening. Maybe we'll like it here afterall. Of course I am saying that before it turns to winter :-)

"I Pity the Fool"

So lately she's been doing this like mean, "don't mess with me" stare. It totally cracks us up. She is so cute but with all the brow furrowing, the emphasis has really been put onto the brows. The sad realization: poor Tati has Daddy's eyebrows. It is a little tricky to tell because she is such a blondie but the potential is definitely there. Daddy's eyebrows might be ok for Daddy but on a cute, little GIRL, that is a bit sad. Lucky for her, she has a Mommy who will help her keep them under control. We love you little Mr. T.

Remember these posters from Jr. High?! I remember they were all around my school's cafeteria. I'm trying to remember who my favorite ones were but it was so long ago. Anyway, so my turn is coming up for my Book Club and I'm wondering if you guys could give me like maybe your top 5 book club books or just books that are short-ish and don't have anything questionable in them. Thanks guys.
p.s. One of the ones I was thinking was the Alchemist. Anybody read that one?

Love, Julie

Total Recall

"Mommy, what's a head case?"

"Um, well where did you hear it?"

"Well, Daddy said you were a head case."

"It means Daddy thinks I'm crazy."

Then she falls over laughing. Um, Daddy, you're busted.
